In the Attic - Snappit Point

Brewster Namskaket Arrowhead known as a Snappit Point

These points date from the Middle Archaic to Late Archaic period, between 6,000 - 8,000 years old.

They are very difficult to distinguish from Squibnocket Triangle Points. Features we look for on Snappit Points is grinding on the base and serrated sides.

This example shows serration although not as fine as we would expect. Possibly because of being found on a beach. The base grinding is fairly evident on this example. This artifact is made from is high quality, almost translucent quartz. It is a very striking point found on Namskaket lands on the Cape Cod Bay shore near Namskaket Creek.
