Brewster Memorial Scholarship

Established in 1971 and originally named the Walter "Skip" Daley Fund in memory of Walter "Skip" Daley of Brewster. Skip was killed in Vietnam on February 1, 1967.

The scholarship was started with funds remaining after the construction of a memorial to Skip on the grounds of what was then the Brewster Elementary School and today houses the Brewster Town Hall.

The scholarship is a continuing education fund for students currently enrolled in post-secondary education. It is available at a time when scholarships and money may be difficult to come by.

To apply you must be a Brewster resident and have completed one year of a post high school education.

The scholarship is managed by the Daley family, along with the Brewster branch of the Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank, and the Brewster Historical Society.

A selection committee is made up of past and present educators and guidance counselors.

Applicants are selected on the basis of need and merit as well as work ethic and presentation of these criteria on the application.

Currently up to $10,000 per year is available for scholarships.

The scholarship funds are made available through various donations, including memorial donations and through the generosity of those who wish to help with the educational needs of students in the Brewster community.

The scholarship fund is always looking for applicants as well as donations.

The Brewster Memorial Scholarship Fund is dedicated to furthering the educational goals of Brewster students.
