Michael is a lecturer
and award-winning author of 17 books.
Fatal Forecast is an Incredible Tale of Disaster and Survival at
Sea.
Michael’s work has been praised by the Los Angles Times.

Brewster in Bloom Weekend, Open House
at the Museum
Antique Appraisals; bring that treasure you would like to know more about. Bill Wibel, longtime Brewster resident and well known antique dealer will be here to appraise those items.The cost is $2 per item, the proceeds to benefit the ongoing and expanding programs at the Brewster Historical Society. Refreshments will be served.
Special Summer Exhibit
Photos from Glass Plate Slides, a CPA sponsored project just completed . This is a magnificent collection of photos of Brewster's past and well worth seeing. Watch for more details on this wonderful window to Brewster's past.

Shipyard in East Dennis, telling the
story
of the eight beautiful
clipper ships built by this small yard at the mouth of Sesuit Creek.
This will cover the Golden Age of Sail 1845-1865.

Mills & Gills Festival
A celebration of West Brewster’s rich historical and natural attractions! The Mills and Gills Festival is hosted by the Brewster Historical Society at Drummer Boy Park, the Stony Brook Grist Mill and the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History. Events are scheduled at all three venues.
At Drummer Boy Park, the Higgins Farm Windmill and new Blacksmith Shop will be featured, along with a display of classic cars. At the Grist Mill, visitors can sample freshly baked cornbread topped with raspberry butter, watch the miller grind corn, and purchase fresh ground cornmeal. Craftsmen and artists will be working at both locations.
Admission to the Grist Mill and events at Drummer Boy Park is free. The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History will be showing “The Run” based on John Hay’s book about Brewster’s annual herring run and a naturalist will answer questions.
Because of limited parking at the Grist Mill, visitors are encouraged to park at Drummer Boy Park (Route 6A West Brewster) and take the free shuttle service to the Grist Mill and Cape Cod Museum of Natural History.

Fall for the Arts Festival
In cooperation with the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod and their " Second Fall for the Arts Festival" the Brewster Historical Society will feature our 2009 Special Exhibit"The Domestic Life of Early Brewster".
Also, the new gift shop will be open featuring the work of Local Artists!

Barry Clifford
will give a slide show and talk about the Whydah . After fifteen years of exploration and survey ,
the team headed by Barry Clifford, finally found a cannon from a pirate ship. When the ship’s bell engraved “The Whydah Galley 1716” was recovered in 1985, most agreed that the ship Whydah had been found.

Brewster Historical Society will be participating in Brewster for the Holidays "Sea of Light" Weekend.
The lighting of the Windmill at Drummer at Boy Park, Friday, Dec. 4 at 4pm will open the Weekend of Festivities.
Refreshments and Caroling will also be featured.
Open House Sunday, Dec. 6, 1-4 pm
The Brewster Historical Society Museum will be decorated for the season and include a rug hooking demonstration by Member Sally Swanson. Refreshments will be served.
