The Blacksmith Shop
Henry Hopkins built the Blacksmith Shop on his property on Long Pond Road in 1867. In 1972 the Blacksmith Shop was sold to the New England Fire Museum. In 1973 it underwent extensive restoration and was opened as part of the Fire Museum. In 2009 it was given to the Brewster Historical Museum and moved to Drummer Boy Park in two parts and once again is undergoing extensive renovations. It now sits on property owned by the Brewster Historical Society and shares space with the Higgins-Farm Windmill and the Harris-Black House. Look for a Grand Opening in 2009. It will a working Blacksmith Shop with Smithy in residence, Peter Hirst. This is a wonderful addition to our Historic site at Drummer Boy Park and a third building to tour and learn about Brewster's History.
